My training philosopy

As a former middle school science teacher turned dog trainer, I use my expertise as an educator to help my clients understand and apply principles from behavioral science to better communicate with their dogs. My goal is to provide you with the tools you need to meet your training goals now, and in the future. I use positive reinforcement methods. Positive reinforcement training is based in behavioral science and is a humane and highly effective form of training.

My approach extends beyond the dog to focus on teaching you, the pet owner. By increasing your understanding of the principles of effective dog training you will be better prepared to meet your current and future training goals. Here’s how we achieve that:

  • Understanding the Principles: For every skill you work on with your dog I will make sure you understand the principles behind it so you are prepared for any curveballs your dog might throw at you.

  • Feedback: I will provide you with personalized feedback to help you better understand and adapt your dog and their unique learning style. In addition, I will give you feedback to improve your technique and avoid common frustrations and hurdles in dog training.

  • Building a Supportive Partnership: My goal is for you to become a confident dog owner/trainer. I will use your input and feedback to tailor lessons focused on helping you meet your goals. If you have a question between training sessions don’t hesitate to contact me.

Together, we can unlock your dog's potential and strengthen the bond you share through a compassionate and scientifically grounded approach to training.
